The show ended with a call to action by Stefanuik to the Citizens of Manitoba to stand up and be heard. He explained that many people are apprehensive of speaking up because the spin on Photo Enforcement makes opposition sound like a person is pro speeding and against safety. People were invited to visit trafficticketguru.com and fill out our survey. Larry Stefanuik
Comments Mar. 8,2009 11:44am Karen Two of our vehicles were ticketed within a two week period. One on May23 on Bishop Grandin doing 79 in what was normally an 80 zone at 19:36 (not a construction worker in site, and two lanes were open in the direction travelled (eastbound). The sign that was posted at that time was 60 when workers present. No workers were present. The second ticket was issued at a red light camera on Regent on June 2,2008 @11:16. The light had turned red .2 seconds before entering the interesction. The infraction was listed as 'Fail to stop at an intersection when signalled to stop by a red traffic control light'. As the driver of this vehicle I noted the light turning yellow but was unable to react and stop the vehicle in time to avoid entering the intersection. Perhaps I should have stopped in the middle and reversed back to the start. Is this safer???? My alternative action to ensure this doesn't happen again is to slow down to at least 10 kms below the posted limits to ensure I have sufficient time to stop without being rear-ended. It might annoy drivers following me and slow down traffic but I would rather do that than get another ticket. Both of these tickets cost our family $362.00 which we paid as we do not have the time/resources to fight them, not because we felt we were guilty of any infractions. How can this be viewed as anything but a cash grab?
